Welding Rods are an excellent all-round manual metal arc coated electrode. This particular rod can be used for a wide variety of fabrication applications. There are a lot of different welding electrodes and wires available. Overtrode is ideal for vertical down welding due to its cellulose content and it can be used with both an AC and DC current. The welding rod is the piece of wire connected to the welding machine. A current is fed through this wire which helps to join the two pieces of metal together firmly. It is important to choose the right type of welding rod for your job in order to create clean, strong welds with excellent bead quality. There are three different types of coatings applied to the shielded arc electrodes, each delivers different results. Overtrode has a cellulose coating which uses a layer of gas to protect the weld zone. These high quality welding rods have a smooth transfer with a low spatter and an easy slag removal.
