Natural Stockcare's Cobalt B12 helps to improve rumen function, prevents ill thrift and pining, and stimulates cattle and sheep's protein, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolism. An insufficient supply of cobalt and vitamin B12 may impair cell membrane integrity, muscular dystrophy, retained placentas, and weak calves and lambs.
Growing lambs and calves are often deficient in cobalt. Rumen microbes require cobalt to produce Vitamin B12, which cannot be stored in the rumen, so it must be provided to the animal regularly. The supplement is highly concentrated and lasts for three months in the animal's system.
This product contains high levels of B12, which lambs and calves require for energy metabolism and good growth. Unfortunately, lambs and calves are unable to produce their own B12. Therefore supplementation is necessary. The B vitamin deficiency can also result in developmental disorders in growing animals, such as CCN and PEM (characterized by blindness, vacant staring, and walking in circles).
Cobalt B12 also provides selenium, a natural antioxidant that contributes significantly to the growth of bones, joints, and muscles in fast-growing animals, such as lambs and calves.
