Copper Methionine is recommended for the prevention and treatment of copper deficiency in cattle and sheep. A lack of copper can cause anaemia, lameness and loss of colour to pigmented hair. The duration of the effect of a single dose will depend on the initial copper status of the animal; in most cases it will be effective for 2-4 months. Using a copper supplement will provide a prolonged rise in the copper status of the animal. It is suitable for cattle and sheep. Ewes require 2ml and cows require 4-6ml. A poor fleece can result from a copper deficiency in lambs and a very early sign is swayback. Swayback is an abnormally hollowed back that can affect performance. There is zero withdrawal for milk but the withdrawal period is 21 days for meat so it is important to be aware of this around your time of sales.
