Tirlán farmers in Waterford announce sponsorship agreement with LGFA

Tirlán farmers in Waterford who are passionate about ensuring their local communities are vibrant and alive have come together as the ‘Waterford Dairy Farmers’ group to support and sponsor the county’s ladies Gaelic Football teams for the next three years.

The Waterford Dairy Farmers group name and logo will feature on the front of the inter-county team jerseys for the next three years. The farmers are members of the Tirlán Council, a key part of the farmer-owned co-operative’s locally-based representative structure.

The group who took the lead and agreed the deal now want their fellow dairy suppliers across Waterford to come on board, donate to the fund and support Waterford Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) for the next three years.

Tirlán Council members Kevin Moloney and Niall Moore said dairy farmers are deeply rooted in their communities, care about the environment and want to make a difference. Sponsoring the team also affords the Waterford Dairy Farmers an opportunity to tell the positive story that is Irish Dairy in this country and the importance of the sector in rural Ireland, they say.

“Our ask of each dairy farmer in Waterford is that they donate €100 a year or make a once-off payment of €300 to sponsor Waterford LGFA for 2025,2026 and 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity for the 500 plus dairy farmers in Waterford to get behind LGFA in Waterford and row in behind our communities. Receipts will be issued and the sponsorship is tax deductible,” Niall Moore said.

Kevin Moloney said Waterford LGFA is growing its presence across the county and said the Division 1 inter-county team only lost out by the tightest of margins to high-ranking Kerry and Dublin in recent games.

“Waterford Ladies Gaelic Football Association delivers a huge amount to the girls and ladies of the county. It runs club championships at all age groups, from juvenile to adult teams. It also fields inter county teams at u14, u16, u18 and adult levels. It is a voluntary organisation that contributes a huge amount to the health and wellbeing of its members and deserves our support.”

Farmers interested in getting involved should contact Kevin Moloney or Niall Moore or their local Council member in Waterford. Niall is available directly on 086 6940309 while Kevin can be contacted on 087 8277594.
