Tirlán Co-operative is further extending its support package for family farm milk suppliers to help address the ongoing impact of drought on grass growth and milk production.

The package offers immediate support of:

•    €40 per tonne rebate on GAIN dairy feed
•    €10 per tonne rebate on Irish rolled cereals
•    €3 per tonne rebate on straights
•    €20 per tonne rebate on fertiliser purchases

Grass growth remains severely constrained across drought-affected parts of the Tirlán catchment, with some areas experiencing little to no growth. In response, and to help farmers protect valuable winter fodder reserves, Tirlán has extended the deadline for its support package.

The support now applies to qualifying products delivered between 10 July and 26 August 2026, with final orders to be placed by 1pm on Friday, 21 August.

Milk volumes at processing sites continue to track below expected levels, while milk protein percentages remain behind those achieved in previous years. This support package is designed to help farmers maintain herd performance, support milk production and carefully manage winter fodder reserves during these challenging conditions.

Commenting on the extension, Tirlán Chairperson Ger O’Brien said: “The continuing lack of rainfall is placing significant pressure on grass growth and milk production across many family farms. As a farmer-owned co-operative, Tirlán understands the challenges our milk suppliers are facing and we remain committed to supporting members through this difficult period. By extending this support package, we are helping farmers maintain herd performance, protect valuable winter fodder reserves and make the best decisions possible for their businesses until growing conditions improve. We will continue to keep the situation under review.”

In addition to the financial support package, Tirlán's advisory teams continue to work closely with milk suppliers, providing guidance on grassland management, feeding strategies and fodder planning.

A number of terms apply to the support:

•    Support applies to eligible orders received between 10 July and Friday 21 August 2026 before 1pm, or until available tonnage is exhausted.
•    Products must be delivered by Wednesday 26 August 2026.
•    €40/tonne rebate on all GAIN dairy feed.
•    €10/tonne rebate on Irish rolled cereals.
•    €3/tonne rebate on all straights.
•    €20/tonne rebate on all fertiliser purchased.
•    Available to all Tirlán milk suppliers with no cent-per-litre (cpl) spend requirement.
•    Rebates will be credited to qualifying customers' (end-users/farmers) trading accounts in September 2026.
•    Reasonable usage limits will apply.

Tirlán milk suppliers are encouraged to place final orders before 1pm on Friday, 21 August 2026 through their local Tirlán branch, their Business Manager, or online via the TirlanFarmLife.com website through the "My Account" portal.
