Strong Turnout at Tirlán Dairy Beef Social Evening
Over 120 Tirlán suppliers, Co-op members, and young farmers gathered on a warm, sunny evening at Noel and Eamon Dunne’s farm in Rosenallis, Co. Laois, for a Dairy Beef Information and Social Evening on July 24th. The event, which drew a diverse crowd, demonstrated the strong ties between the local community and their Co-op.
The evening featured expert talks on key aspects of dairy beef production, including genetics, bull selection, calf health, and procurement. Speakers included Niall Kilrane (ICBF), John Lynch and Ger Ryan (Dovea Genetics), Joris Somers (Tirlán), and David Coyne and Eamon Phelan (Kepak), offering practical insights into improving herd performance and profitability.
A central theme of the event was the importance of local representation within the Co-op. Bruce Thompson, Chairperson of the local Mountmellick Area Committee, encouraged attendees to consider getting involved in their local structures, highlighting the value of grassroots participation in shaping the future of the Co-op.
Guests also enjoyed a social BBQ, with delicious burgers supplied by Kepak as Tirlán’s partner in the Twenty20 Beef Club, a programme supporting sustainable and profitable beef farming.
The event was a huge success, bringing together dairy and beef farmers of all ages to exchange ideas, connect with their Co-op, and enjoy the sunshine over a bite to eat.
